This course is aimed at all those who care for or support others and incorporate dignity, privacy and respect principles into their day to day practice.

Dignity covers all aspects of daily life, including respect, privacy, autonomy and self-worth. While dignity may be difficult to define, what is clear is that people know when they have not been treated with dignity and respect. Dignity is about interpersonal behaviours as well as systems and processes.

Privacy and Dignity forms part of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 and forms part of the CQC inspection. Regulation 10- The intention of this regulation is to make sure that people using the service are treated with respect and dignity at all times while they are receiving care and treatment. This regulation is supported by regulation 18 where providers must provide sufficient numbers of suitably qualified, competent, skilled and experienced staff to meet the needs of the people using the service at all times.

This course focuses on the legislation surrounding privacy, dignity and respect with practical examples of how to seamlessly incorporate into day to day practice.
